I am new here, first time signing in, can’t log in from my computer. Want to assemble for the first time, but can access to any video
Hi Gang. Up here is Midwest USA. Built one before but just ordered a few kits to do as the hours grow darker and the days shorter in my area.
I am new to the forum and watch building but I am interested in watches. I always have been. I have a small collection of watches, nothing lavish or expensive but I like them.
My son gave me the “Diver 40 watch” kit for this past Christmas. I enjoyed watching the videos and assembling the watch but I had a couple of questions. So I sent the following email to Jeff:
Jeff:
My son gave me the Diver 40 kit for a Christmas gift. I put it together following the instructions in the videos. I have some questions regarding the build. The watch looks good and keeps good time.
- I have other diver watches and both are waterproof down to 100meters and 200 meters respectively. They both have screwdown crowns to make them waterproof. My Diver 40 does not have a screwdown crown. Did my kit come with the wrong crown or the wrong movement (Seiko NH35)?
- The Seiko NH 35 movement has the date wheel, but my watch does not have a window for the date. In some of the videos they show a date window and in some they don’t. Again, do I have the wrong Movement or the face without a date window?
Please advise me about the questions I have. I don’t want to take it swimming or scuba diving and ruin the watch.
Thank you for your assistance.
That email was sent on January 5, 2026 and I have not received any response. I am a little dismayed by the lack of response or support. The watch works well and looks pretty good but I don’t think it can be considered a true “Diver Watch”.
Let me know something.
