I have a Mosel with a 8N24 movement which was given to me a couple of years ago. A while ago it stopped working and I gave up on the watch, but I came back to it this week to try to figure out what is up. I think the spring is broken. I Turn the crown over and over, gears move including what looks like to me to be the spring (not the balance wheel, unless I shake the watch) so I am pretty sure energy is getting to the spring. However, no matter how much I turn the crown, it never gets to the end, fully wound. it also makes a noise, which to me sounds like a ratchet so I was not concerned. Shacking the watch does nothing to charge the spring. So I think the spring is shot. Second opinion?
