DIVER 40mm Crown stem won't engage!!!

When I pull crown out to set watch, it comes completely out of watch, also not able to set the time! Works perfectly with movement held in hand while not in case. It seems as if stem is just slightly too short for this case?

Same issue for me crown inserts all the way and you can hear it winding when rotated but pulls straight out of the case when you go to change the time.
Have we done something wrong

If 3 of us are having the same issue, this feels like it might be a flaw in the kit somehow? My theory is that they have have put the wrong crown in the kit. (since it’s a modular kit system?) Just a theory. I’ve emailed someone at DIYwatchclub a couple days ago, but haven’t heard back yet. @davdjr24 and @Tudor58, If you hear of anything, please let me know. I’m hopeful that it’s a n easy fix.

Will do, I’ve also contacted Jeff at DIY club, it seems strange that we have all had the same issue, I doubt that we have all made the same mistake that would be a very unusual coincidence

I too am having the same issue. This is my first time doing something like this so seeing this makes me less frustrated thinking I did something wrong. Hopefully its just them sending us a corrected stem or something like that.

Add another to the list

I’m also having this issue. I have also sent an email with no reply

So I have had some communication with Charlotte at DWC and had to send a video of the issue so putting the stem and crown into the watch and demonstrating that it just pulls back out without locking. For information with the movement out of the watch the crown and stem does lock in place.
She has asked another question about the blue movement stem which I have answered but have had no reply.
Sent another message this morning and am waiting on an answer, but my theory is the supplied crown and stem is very slightly to short. That said this is my first go at building a watch so it’s very much a guess but one that makes logical sense to me.

What you described sounds accurate. When you press the crown in, it should lock in place. I’ve cut my own crown stems and this is the same issue I have when I cut it too short.

DWC should send you a new one, but it’s not hard (or even expensive) to do it yourself. You can buy packs of stems online, get them delivered tomorrow. Put your DWC stem in a vice. With a little heat, you can rotate the crown off the stem. Insert the new stem in the movement, measure and mark with a sharpie, cut with a dremel, sand the cut tip, put on the crown and ensure it fits correctly, use a drop of blue loctite, and insert. If you keep building, this will be something you’ll need to do with your next project anyway. The only part that makes it tricky, some watches have tiny springs in the crown to ensure a water tight seal which will throw off your measuring. I don’t remember of DWC does that or not.

Either way, good luck!

Many thanks for the info, that’s really helpful, hopefully DWC will send out new stem and crowns but I will certainly look at getting some stems and cutting to size.

Well good morning to one and all on this thread, I have had a reply from Charlotte on the stem and crown issue which has fixed the problem for me. She enclosed a video of how to overcome it which has worked. I now have a working watch. I will try and add the link to the video on this thread ( not entirely sure how do that but will give it a go) I still believe the stem is slightly to short however it now is working as it should

Try this link chaps from DWC

Got that link from them too. It works.

I had the same issue. Tudor58, thank you for sharing the link. It worked like a charm!
