Modding Combo Seiko NH35 Minute Hand Challenge

The hour hand sits snug, pull crown and can nicely make it turn. Attaching minute hand won’t work for me - slides on and off, seems it won’t sit snug on stem - any suggestions? Anything I overlook or do wrong?

Have you received any help with this or figured out how to get the minute had installed. I think I am having the same issue.

Hi Randy, I contacted support after I received no feedback on the forum. I was asked to send a video describing the issue, which I did solve with photos of hand and assembled hand on the stem - I was then told, that they will send me replacement hands, I should receive them next Monday - for me, that minute hand has no resistance to the stem and wiggles, maybe the kit was packed with hands for another movement, that could explain

Thomas,
Sounds like the same exact issue I have with the minute hand, complete last of resistance. I will have to try to take some photos and a video to send support. I already sent them an email, but I am sure it will take a couple of days for them to respond. Let me know if the replacement hands work for you.

Randy

Hi Randy,

I think that might be the case for you too - customer service is courteous and helpful but it takes them time to get back with you so if you are proactive it saves you time - my kit sits on my desk for some weeks now. I’ll post an update here, when I get my delivery next week.

Cheers,

Thomas

Hey Randy,
Received my replacement hands today and there is definitely a difference - the new minute hand attached does not slide and is not loose any longer and sits quite firm on the stem, turning the hands now works - the last challenge will be the second hand now, so I will use the one in the set I just received and see, if I manage to mount it - thought toilet you know.

Cheers,

Thomas

Thomas,

Glad to hear the replacement hands worked for you. I had to do the same as you and send them a picture and video showing them how the minute hand simply slides over the post. I received them today and was able to use the replacement minute hand to get everything moving again and completed the build of my watch. I ended up using my phone’s camera and zooming in as much as possible to see what I was doing rather than trying to use my eyes alone. This worked great! I was able to install the minute hand and the second had using this method with no problem.

I hope you are/were able to finish your watch build as well.

Good luck,

Randy

Hi Randy,
Happy to hear you got all squared away - and thank you for the tip of using the cell phone‘s magnification capabilities. I‘ve been struggling somewhat to see what I was doing, I do have all sorts of magnifying equipment but I always miss a free hand - my build still needs the second hand and from there it should progress quicker. I should get this all done next week sometime.

Thanks again and all the best

Thomas
