Hello my husband slipped when assembling and now the face is stuck in the clear casing. I’m probably using the wrong words here but he thinks it’s ruined now is there any way to salvage this? Can’t find a way to remove the face plate without bending it?

If I’m understanding all this correctly, maybe you can try to pry the dial loose with the screwdriver? Find a spot where the screwdriver can be inserted and pry it loose.
Been there. Before you try a metal screwdriver, try sharpening a blade shape, very fine, into the peg wood stick and using that before you resort to a screwdriver. Same principal but softer material. Even a toothpick might
work,
